Scottish Championship roundup: The race for second place heats up

Sports Mole rounds up Saturday's Scottish Championship action as Rangers move level on points with second-placed Hibernian with a 4-1 victory against Cowdenbeath.

Hibernian surrendered ground in the battle for second place in the Scottish Championship by crashing to a 2-1 defeat at Raith Rovers this afternoon.

Mark Stewart gave the hosts the lead early in the second half before Fraser Fyvie hit back for Hibs, leaving it to Lewis Vaughan to seal the points with a late winner.

Rangers moved level on points with the Edinburgh outfit thanks to a 4-1 victory at home to struggling Cowdenbeath, with three of their goals coming in the final 10 minutes.

The Gers have a match in hand on Alan Stubbs's side, and can move ahead of them if they win it.

Hearts, who were crowned champions last weekend, showed no signs of complacency in their home match against playoff-chasing Queen of the South, emerging 2-0 winners with goals either side of the break from Osman Sow and Alim Ozturk.

Queens remain in fourth place ahead of Falkirk, who lost 1-0 at Dumbarton to a late Archie Campbell strike.

At the bottom of the table, basement club Livingston played out a 2-2 draw with eighth-placed Alloa Athletic.

Results in full: Alloa 2-2 Livingston, Dumbarton 1-0 Falkirk, Hearts 2-0 Queen of the South, Raith Rovers 2-1 Hibernian, Rangers 4-1 Cowdenbeath
