Mitchell te Vrede wins it for Feyenoord

Feyenoord beat 10-man ADO Den Haag 1-0 in their Eredivisie opener on Sunday in a match which set a new league record for most yellow cards shown in a game.

Mitchell te Vrede scored in stoppage time to hand Feyenoord a 1-0 win over 10-man ADO Den Haag in their Eredivisie opener on Sunday afternoon.

Both sides struggled to create clear chances in what was an untidy affair, with just three attempts on target registered between the two teams.

Te Verde arrived late on to secure all three points for the visitors, however, in a match where 12 yellow cards and one red - Den Haag's Mitchell Schet - were awarded by the referee to set a league record.

Next up for Feyenoord is a home match against Heerenveen on Friday, while Den Haag make the trip to FC Twente on Saturday evening.
