Perth Glory draw against Adelaide United to regain A-League top spot

Danny Vukovic produces a strong display in goal to help Perth Glory on their way to a 1-1 draw against Adelaide United which takes them back to the A-League summit.

Perth Glory have climbed back to the top of the A-League ladder by battling their way to a 1-1 draw against Adelaide United at the Hindmarsh Stadium.

The hosts were ahead with just 11 minutes on the clock thanks to Pablo Sanchez's strike, with the Spanish forward cutting inside and dinking the ball over Danny Vukovic.

Adelaide continued their slow start to the contest as the first half wore on, and they would have been further behind had Vukovic not palmed away Marcelo Carrusca's drive.

Richard Garcia headed the Violets' first chance wide of goal before Sidnei Sciola fired narrowly wide as the momentum began to swing.

The current league leaders, who dropped to second prior to this morning's match in Adelaide, did eventually level things up through Nebojsa Marinkovic's rocket into the top corner.

Glory continued to push on in search of a winner which would help consolidate their advantage at the summit and came close to finding one through Chris Harold's attempt, but it was not to be.

In fact, Awer Mabil's shot which forced a crucial stop out of Vukovic was the closest that either team came to adding a decisive third, ensuring that Perth remain four points off their opponents.
