Dundee United thrash Motherwell 5-1 in today's Scottish Premiership clash at Tannadice Park.

Dundee United have thrashed Motherwell 5-1 in today's Scottish Premiership clash at Tannadice Park.

Nadir Ciftci scored a first-half brace to put the Tangerines two goals to the good in the first half, before Stuart Armstrong added a third with a solo effort from midfield on the hour mark.

Ryan Dow then found space in the box and slotted past Gunnar Nielsen for the home side's fourth goal midway through the second half, before Brian Graham struck in the 81st minute to make it five.

Lionel Ainsworth scored a consolation for the beleaguered Steelmen with just two minutes left of the game.

Meanwhile Aberdeen drew 1-1 against St Johnstone at Pittodrie, Stevie May opening the scoring after just eight minutes for the away side.

A poor back pass by Clark Robertson was intercepted by the striker who marauded into the box before firing past goalkeeper Jamie Langfield.

However, midway through the first half, Adam Rooney was able to round Alan Mannus and poke the ball into the net for the home side's equaliser.

Ross County defeated Kilmarnock 2-1, Filip Kiss's goal towards the end of the first half breaking the deadlock for the home side, before Richard Brittain doubled the Staggies' advantage from the penalty spot in the 77th minute.

Kris Boyd scored late on to make it a tense final few minutes for the home side, but they held on for the win.
