Great Britain's Gary Hunt tops standings after 27m High Dive preliminary round

Great Britain's Gary Hunt leads the way in the men's 27m High Dive after finishing first in the preliminary round in Kazan.

Great Britain's Gary Hunt is on course for a medal after he topped the standings in the men's 27m High Dive preliminary round at the World Championships in Kazan this afternoon.

The 31-year-old never dropped below third place during three rounds involving a 20-strong field, including defending champion Orlando Duque of Colombia.

After round one, Mexico's Jonathan Parades Bernal surged to the top, while the USA's David Colturi finished second and Hunt started strongly by claiming third position.

Following the penultimate dive, Hunt moved into top spot and finished with a total of 381.80 points, while Colturi dropped to fourth before climbing back up to second after the final dive of the day on 359.10 points.

Bernal claimed third place in the preliminary round with a total of 350.40, while Blake Aldridge could only muster a 15th-spot finish.

The competitors will dive again on Wednesday.
