England's 13-year-old diver Victoria Vincent: 'I've learned so much at Commonwealths'

Thirteen-year-old diver Victoria Vincent tells Sports Mole that she has "learned so much" from her Commonwealth Games experience.

Victoria Vincent, the youngest English athlete at the Commonwealth Games, has told Sports Mole that she has "learned so much" during the Games.

Diver Vincent is just 13 but produced an assured performance this evening in the 10m platform final - her one and only event at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh.

When asked by Sports Mole to describe her overall experience at the Games, Vincent replied: "It's been great. I've learned so much and I've had so much fun. I suppose that's all I've come here to do."

In tonight's final, Vincent finished in 10th place after five consistent dives. She feels that she will be able to place higher in future competitions once she learns more difficult combinations.

"It's quite close to my PB obviously," she told reporters. "I could have dived better but at the end of the day, I'm at the Commonwealth Games at the age of 13.

"I think it's just the fact that I haven't got DD (degree of difficulty) yet, but next year I'll hopefully be learning harder dives."

Vincent almost wasn't able to go to Scotland after it was initially ruled that she was too young to compete, but Team England appealed against the FINA ruling as their guidelines do not explicitly mention the Commonwealth Games and exceptions have been made before.
