Team England diver Rebecca Gallantree: 'Gold hasn't sunk in'

Commonwealth Games gold medallist Alicia Blagg tells Sports Mole that her synchronised 3m springboard victory still hasn't sunk in.

English springboard diver Rebecca Gallantree has revealed that her 3m synchro gold still hasn't sunk in almost two days after she and Alicia Blagg won at the Commonwealth Games.

With the last dive of the night on Wednesday, Gallantree and Blagg surged into first place to claim a surprise gold ahead of Canadian duo Jennifer Abel and Pamela Ware.

Speaking after this morning's 1m springboard preliminaries, in which she qualified for the final in sixth position, Gallantree told Sports Mole: "I'm not entirely sure (it's sunk in) to be honest.

"I didn't get a whole lot of sleep the night after, so yesterday I was pretty tired, walking around in a daze really. Then this morning I've had to pick myself up to compete again. It's sort of focusing now on competing today and tomorrow, and after that I think it will sink in properly."

On her display in the 1m prelims, she added: "It was steady and my reverse was good, which I'm happy about because it's my hardest dive so yeah, happy."

The 1m final takes place at 6.05pm later this evening before the 3m springboard event over the course of tomorrow - the last day of diving at Glasgow 2014.
