James Wade storms back to win Masters title

James Wade overturns a 9-2 deficit to beat Mervyn King 11-10 in the final of The Masters in Edinburgh.

James Wade has recorded an 11-10 victory over Mervyn King to win The Masters after a thrilling final in Edinburgh.

King looked on course for his first PDC major after easing into a 9-2 advantage, but Wade fought back to register nine of the last 10 legs to claim a stunning win.

The two finalists had dispatched of Michael van Gerwen and Phil Taylor respectively in the last four, but it appeared as though the final would be a one-sided affair as King moved 5-0 and 7-1 ahead.

King took two of the next three legs to edge closer towards the trophy, but Wade hit back with four on the trot to reduce the deficit to 9-6.

An 158 checkout from King helped ease the nerves, but the world number 11 missed a total of eight darts for the match and Wade capitalised to take the contest into a last-leg decider.

King looked in prime position to try to finish 112, but Wade stunned his opponent by hitting bull, treble 15 and double 20 to check out 135 and cap off a remarkable comeback.
