Tour de France leader Tony Martin breaks collarbone

Tony Martin retains the yellow jersey after stage six of the Tour de France, but his participation is in doubt following a collision that saw him break his collarbone.

Tony Martin's participation in the 2015 Tour de France is in doubt following a dramatic crash at the end of stage six.

The German rider retained the yellow jersey but a collision in the final kilometre, which also involved defending champion Vincenzo Nibali, could see him miss the remainder of the competition.

An X-ray confirmed that Martin had broken his collar bone, with the Etixx-Quick Step star revealing that he will now "discuss further steps" with his team.

Martin's teammate Zdenek Stybar came out on top in a time of four hours and 53 minutes, while Team Sky competitor Chris Froome remains in second place, 12 seconds behind the current race leader.

Froome himself suffered a minor graze to his knee during the crash, which took place in the 191.5km from Abbeville to Le Havre.
