Shane Sutton: 'Great Britain's track cycling stars in good shape for Rio 2016'

Shane Sutton believes that Great Britain's track cyclists are in good shape ahead of next year's Rio Olympic Games.

British Cycling technical director Shane Sutton believes that the current crop of track stars are in good shape ahead of next year's Olympic Games in Rio.

The team are currently preparing for next month's Track World Championships in France, where they hope to do better than in last year's event.

Britain scooped two gold medals, one silver and two bronzes in Cali, Colombia in 2014, which left them fourth in the overall standings.

"We will be better than we were last year for sure," Sutton told British Cycling. "Have we got the talent? I'm totally convinced we have.

"But I think it's like every other Games - we've gone through that lull, that period and if you asked us are we in the right place at this moment in time I would say 'yes'. We're going to be up for the fight but don't ask me a medal target, don't ask me what we're going to do."

The team also secured a second-place finish in the UCI Track Cycling World Cup.
