Liam Phillips confident ahead of World Championships

BMX rider Liam Phillips reveals that he is confident of securing a place on the podium at this weekend's World Championships in Belgium.

Liam Phillips has revealed that he is excited about the challenge of attempting to regain his world title this weekend.

The British BMX rider became world champion in 2013, but despite a disappointing defence 12 months later, he believes that he is ready to secure a place on the podium in Belgium.

The 26-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "We've done a lot of work on the technical side but I've also made some really good physical gains.

"I know that come race day, if I can execute, I should be in contention to challenge for the podium. I'm looking forward to the challenge of trying to execute some of the stuff I've done in training."

Tre Whyte, Kyle Evans, Quillan Isidore and Charlotte Green will also represent Great Britain in Belgium.
