Joanna Rowsell breaks Commonwealth Games record to reach gold-medal race

England cyclist Joanna Rowsell breaks the Commonwealth Games record to reach the gold-medal race of the women's 3000m individual pursuit in Glasgow.

Team England's Joanna Rowsell has reached the final of the women's 3000m individual pursuit as she broke the Commonwealth Games record, but teammates Laura Trott and Dani King failed to advance from the qualifying stage.

Rowsell posted a time of 3 minutes 29.038 seconds to record the fastest time of the qualifying round and she will now face Australia's Annette Edmondson in the gold-medal race later today.

Trott and King were eliminated from the event as they recorded times of 3.35.213 and 3.28.034 respectively to finish in sixth and eighth place.

However, Scotland's Katie Archibald did make the cut for the bronze-medal showdown with a time of 3.33.526 and she will face Australia's Amy Cure.
