Annette Edmondson delighted with individual pursuit performance

Team Australia cyclist Annette Edmondson is "stoked" at having qualified for the individual pursuit gold medal race at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Team Australia cyclist Annette Edmondson has expressed her delight at having qualified for the final of the individual team pursuit at the Commonwealth Games.

Edmondson was less than half a second away from setting a new Commonwealth Games record as she posted a time of 3:30.728 to book her place in the gold medal race against England's Joanna Rowsell.

The 22-year-old admitted that she didn't know what to expect from the track in conditions that were not ideal, but she was delighted with her performance overall.

"I'm pretty stoked with that, I haven't done a 3:30 for a while and the conditions out here weren't that amazing," Edmondson told Sports Mole after the race.

"I wasn't really sure what to expect, I just had to go out and try to do the fastest time, and I came out with the second fastest so I'm pretty happy with that."

Australian Amy Cure and Katie Archibald of Scotland will compete for the bronze medal later this afternoon.
