Kumar Sangakkara announces retirement

Kumar Sangakkara confirms that he will play his last Test for Sri Lanka this summer.

Sri Lanka batsman Kumar Sangakkara has announced that he will retire from Test cricket this summer.

The 37-year-old, who had already quit Twenty20 and one-day cricket, will play his final game for his country on home soil in the second of the three-match Test series against India in August.

"This is my time to call it a day," he told reporters during the second Test against Pakistan in Colombo.

Sangakkara is the fifth-highest scorer in Test match history with 12,305 runs to date. The exact dates and venues for the three-Test series against India are yet to be confirmed.
