Adelaide Strikers beat Sydney Thunder by six runs

The Adelaide Strikers edge out Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League.

The Adelaide Strikers have edged out Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League thanks to some excellent bowling in the final two overs of the match.

The Strikers' innings got off to a good start with Michael Klinger reaching 44 from 33 before he was bowled by Luke Feldman, while Alex Hales hit a quick 16.

After the first wicket the run-rate slowed a little and both Phillip Hughes (16) and Callum Ferguson (22) scored at less than a run a ball. Nathan Reardon's rapid-fire 32 helped his side to a reasonable, yet beatable, 153-6.

Thunder did not get off to a good start in their innings as Daniel Hughes was dismissed for a duck while his opening partner Ryan Carters hit just six.

However, the middle order helped them to get to within one six of a super-over, with Michael Hussey's 83 from 56 proving to be just not quite enough for his team as Chris Woakes could not hit the required boundary.
