Pakistan in trouble against Sri Lanka at close of play on day two

Pakistan stumble to 209-9 at stumps on day two of the third Test against Sri Lanka in Pallekele.

Pakistan have lost five more wickets at the close of play on day two of the third Test against Sri Lanka in Pallekele.

The tourists started the final session on 117-4 before stuttering to 209-9 at stumps, leaving them 69 runs behind the hosts.

Azhar Ali reached his half-century when play resumed after tea before eventually being dismissed for 52 by Nuwan Pradeep, while Pradeep struck again four overs later to take out Misbah-ul-Haq for six.

Pakistan's collapse continued soon after as Ehsan Adil was out for a golden duck thanks to the bowling of Tharindu Kaushal.

However, Sarfraz Ahmed dug in at the crease to give the visitors a foundation on which to build.

A knock of 18 off 37 balls from Yasir Shah provided Pakistan with some cheer, though he fell to Dhammika Prasad before Kaushal sent Rahat Ali back to the pavilion for two after a rain delay to leave the away side with plenty of work to do heading into day three.

Ahmed ended the day on 72 not out, while Imran Khan will join him out in the middle on Sunday having yet to score.
