Pakistan have beaten Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the third and final Test in Pallekele, posting 382-3 in their second innings to win the series 2-1.

The Men in Green have achieved their highest ever fourth-innings total, surpassing the 343-3 they recorded against South Africa in 2010.

Younis Khan and captain Misbah-ul-Haq guided Pakistan to within 56 runs of victory at lunch, and the pair continued through the afternoon session as Sri Lanka struggled to break up their partnership.

Khan brought up his 150 shortly after play resumed, while Misbah notched his half-century by sending a Tharindu Kaushal delivery to the boundary for four.

Misbah then wrapped up the victory in style as he thumped Jehan Mubarak's ball over long-on for a six, taking his side past the 377 target that Sri Lanka had set them.

Pakistan have moved up to third in the ICC rankings with the win.
