Alastair Cook "gutted" after removal as England's one-day captain

Alastair Cook reveals that he is "gutted" after his removal as England's one-day international captain.

Alastair Cook has revealed that he is "gutted" after his removal as England's one-day international captain and has said it will take him a long time to get over it.

Cook has also been left out of the World Cup squad after his inconsistent performances with the bat and as captain.

The 29-year-old has failed to score a hundred in 46 one-day internationals, which ultimately cost him his place at next year's World Cup.

"I am gutted to be left out of the World Cup squad and it is likely to take me a while to get over the disappointment," Cook told Sky Sports News.

"That said I wish Peter Moores, Eoin and the lads all the best for the World Cup. I would also like to thank all the players and fans who have supported me during my time as one-day captain."

The ECB has confirmed that Eoin Morgan will take over as England's ODI captain.
