South Africa bowl out New Zealand for just 45 runs in the morning session of the first Test match in Cape Town.

South Africa have taken just over 19 overs to bowl out New Zealand for 45 runs in the first Test match in Cape Town.

Vernon Philander posted remarkable bowling figures of 5-7 as he had the tourists reeling on 27-5 and they never recovered as New Zealand collapsed to their third-lowest total in Test cricket.

Philander's stunning six-over burst had seen New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson post the only score in double figures and that continued for the remainder of the innings.

Morne Morkel got in on the act with figures of 3-14 before Dale Steyn removed Daniel Flynn to complete New Zealand's short time at the crease.
