Kings XI Punjab go top of the Indian Premier League

Kings XI Punjab move to the top of the IPL table with a six-wicket victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Kings XI Punjab have moved to the top of the Indian Premier League table with a six-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The Sunrisers, who were put into bat first, made 205-5 before the Kings XI hit 211-4 with eight balls remaining.

Naman Ojha was Hyderabad's top scorer with an unbeaten knock of 79, while Aaron Finch (20), Shikhar Dhawan (45) and David Warner (49) also made significant contributions at the crease.

However, the middle and lower order managed just three runs between them.

Rishi Dhawan claimed two wickets for the Kings XI, with Sandeep Sharma and Shivan Sharma also getting in on the act.

The run-out of Virender Sehwag for four runs saw the Kings XI get off to a disappointing start out in the middle, but scores of 47 and 54 from Manan Vohra and Wriddhiman Saha respectively saw the visitors race towards their winning target.

Glenn Maxwell (43), David Miller (24 not out) and George Bailey (35 not out) then saw the Kings XI claim their eighth victory of the season with an over to spare.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Karan Sharma and Amit Mishra shared the wickets between them for the Sunrisers.
