The home side needed three to win off the final ball in a tense finish.

Saqib Mahmood kept his nerve as Lancashire secured a nail-biting one-run win over Roses rivals Yorkshire in the Royal London One-Day Cup.

The first two balls of Mahmood's final over went for four at the Emerald Headingley with the home side needing 16 to overhaul the visitors' total of 311.

But needing three off the last ball, Josh Poysden was run out to leave Yorkshire agonisingly short of their target.

Steven Croft had earlier hit 97 to help Lancashire, who had won the toss and elected to bat first, recover from 116 for four to reach 311 for six from their 50 overs.

Yorkshire opener Tom Kohler-Cadmore also fell three runs short of a hundred as his side fought back from 87 for three, but his efforts ultimately proved to be in vain.

Elsewhere in the North Group, Colin Ackermann helped himself to an unbeaten 152 and Lewis Hill blasted a 54-ball century to help Leicestershire to a surprise 38-run victory against Worcestershire.

The hosts found themselves two down with just five runs on the board in a disastrous first over, but opener Harry Dearden's 91, Ackermann's knock and 118 from Hill helped them to 377 for four, their highest List-A score against another county.

Ross Whiteley contributed 131 to revive the visitors after a poor start – but they were eventually bowled out for 339 with 22 balls remaining.

Life was significantly more straightforward for Northamptonshire as they cruised to a 194-run win over Warwickshire at Northampton.

West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder starred for the hosts, scoring 60 not out with the bat as the home side made 358 for six from their allocation, and then taking three for 26 as the visitors were skittled out for 164 in just 34.4 overs.

Victory was almost as comprehensive at Derby, where opener Ben Slater's 83 and unbeaten fifties from Tom Moores and Steven Mullaney saw Nottinghamshire win by six wickets with almost five overs to spare.

Luke Fletcher's first one-day five-wicket haul had earlier restricted Derbyshire to 297 for eight.

In the South Group, the drama came at Cardiff as Somerset edged home by two runs after Lukas Carey and Timm Van der Gugten put on 57 for the final wicket.

Glamorgan looked to be in deep trouble when they slumped to 21 for five in pursuit of the visitors' 261 for nine but they edged their way to within three runs of a remarkable victory before Carey was removed by Roelof Van Der Merwe.

Stevie Eskinazi scored 107 not out as he and Nick Gubbins shared an unbeaten fifth-wicket stand of 184 to see Middlesex to a six-wicket win over Gloucestershire.

James Bracey had earlier top-scored for the visitors with 83 from their total of 283 for seven, but Middlesex reached their target in a little more than 42 overs.

Phil Salt's maiden List-A century helped ease Sussex to a seven-wicket victory over Kent at Beckenham.

The opener hit an unbeaten 137 as the visitors reached their target of 299 with 10 overs to spare despite Matt Renshaw's earlier knock of 109 for the hosts.
