Gloucestershire stun Essex Eagles in Natwest T20 Blast

Gloucestershire shock high-flying Essex Eagles in a thrilling Natwest T20 Blast match.

Gloucestershire have produced a shock in the Natwest T20 Blast by defeating South Division leaders Essex Eagles in a thrilling match this afternoon.

It looked as if the Eagles would be winning their 11th game in 12, but Chris Dent shocked the home crowd with a late surge to win the game for Gloucestershire.

The visitors won the toss and put Essex in to bat. The Eagles went on to amass a lofty total of 183-7, with Ravi Bopara the top-scorer on 51.

Despite being underdogs to chase down the total, Gloucestershire reached their target with just two balls to spare thanks to a six, then four from Dent, who finished 55 not out.
