Tymal Mills rejects offer to extend stay at Essex

Tymal Mills is set to leave Essex after rejecting the chance to sign a new contract.

England Lions paceman Tymal Mills will leave Essex after rejecting the opportunity to sign a new contract.

The 22-year-old, whose current deal expires in the winter, was restricted to just 12 appearances this season due to injury, and was quick to pay tribute to the staff at Essex when his decision was revealed.

"It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to leave Essex. I want to thank the club for giving me my introduction into professional cricket," Mills revealed.

"I am excited for the next chapter in my career and wish the club all the best moving forward."

It was also confirmed on Wednesday that Essex spinner Tim Phillips had retired.
