Alastair Cook falls to final ball as England left needing 318 to beat India

England skipper Alastair Cook falls to the final ball on day four of the second Test against India to deflate England's spirited fightback in Visakhapatnam.

England have been left needing 318 to beat India after Alastair Cook fell to the last ball of day four in the second Test in Visakhapatnam.

Having been set 405 to win and five sessions to bat by India, captain Cook led from the front, battling for 188 deliveries, and sharing in a 75-run stand across 50 overs with opening partner Haseeb Hameed.

However, after Hameed had been bowled out lbw to Ravichandran Ashwin for 25, Cook (54) was also trapped in front, to the final ball of the day from Ravindra Jadeja, as England closed on 87-2.

India were earlier bowled out for 205, with Stuart Broad (4-33) and Adil Rashid (4-84) performing admirably in the morning session as the hosts lost their last seven wickets for 87 runs.

Despite England's spirited fightback, however, the departures of Cook and Hameed mean that the tourists are very likely to go 1-0 down in the five-match series.
