Ben Stokes confident of more success in limited-overs matches

Ben Stokes is certain that England can follow The Ashes with more success in the limited-overs matches against Australia.

England all-rounder Ben Stokes has revealed his excitement at the possibility of following the Ashes triumph with limited-overs success against Australia.

After starting the summer as underdogs, England proved many doubters wrong with a 3-2 victory in the longest format, but regulars such as Joe Root and Stuart Broad will sit out the white-ball matches.

Stokes is confident that England can rise to the challenge of meeting the 50-over world champions after recovering from a disastrous World Cup by recording a series win over New Zealand earlier this year.

"We know as a one-day group we've been successful against the second-best team in the world, New Zealand," he told Sky Sports News.

"So if we can perform as we did, hopefully trying to improve on our performance, then I think it will be really good to cap the summer off by beating Australia in both forms of the game, it will be brilliant.

"I don't think it's always about attacking, but we are definitely looking to be more positive, carry on the good things we've created against New Zealand, and I can't imagine it'll change playing against Australia."

England meet Australia in the only Twenty20 on Monday before the five-match ODI series gets underway.
