Alex Hales is added to the England squad for Sunday's ODI against Sri Lanka as cover for captain Alastair Cook.

Alex Hales has been added to the England squad for Sunday's one-day international against Sri Lanka as cover for captain Alastair Cook.

Cook is currently struggling with a groin problem and will be assessed ahead of tomorrow's match at Durham.

Hales, who is considered a Twenty20 specialist, is yet to be capped by England at ODI level.

England took a 1-0 lead in their five-match series against Sri Lanka on Thursday with an 81-run win at The Oval.
