The first one-day international between England and Australia at Headingley is abandoned due to heavy rain.

The first one-day international between England and Australia has been abandoned due to rain.

Play was due to begin at 10:15am, but persistent rain in the Leeds area meant that the start was delayed.

Neither side had named their lineup for the match as the toss had not taken place.

The umpires inspected the pitch again at 1:30pm and came to the decision that the match should be abandoned.

The second ODI is due to take place at Old Trafford on Sunday.
