England coach Paul Farbrace targets World Cup quarter-final berth

England assistant coach Paul Farbrace says that the team should be aiming to reach the last eight of the Cricket World Cup.

England assistant coach Paul Farbrace believes that the side is capable of reaching the quarter-finals of the Cricket World Cup.

The tournament in Australia and New Zealand begins on February 14, with England facing Australia in their opening match in Pool A.

Farbrace believes that Friday's Tri-series match with India, which will decide who meets Australia in the final, will be good preparation for the tournament next month.

"We'd be hugely disappointed if we didn't get to the quarter final," he told BBC Sport.

"Once you get to the quarter final it's knockout stages, and that's why Friday's quite exciting because it is a knockout game, and it gives us the chance to see the boys under pressure.

"If we can get to the quarter final, anything can happen. I experienced that with Sri Lanka."

Farbrace guided Sri Lanka to the Twenty20 World Cup title last year.
