Alastair Cook suggests that Graeme Swann will not feature against South Africa tomorrow afternoon.

England captain Alastair Cook has insisted that Graeme Swann's fitness will not be risked during tomorrow's ICC Champions Trophy semi-final against South Africa.

The spinner missed two of his nation's three group encounters with what is believed to be a combination of back and calf injuries.

He took part in training with his teammates earlier today, but Cook has hinted that he will be left out at The Oval to prevent any further damage to the complaints.

"It's clearly a concern for us. We haven't ruled him out totally for this game. We're going to have to see how he trains today and see how he pulls up tomorrow," the skipper told reporters.

"There's one thing for certain, he won't be risked. There is no point in doing that for the fact that Tredders (James Tredwell) is an exceptional bowler as well. We're very lucky in that department. We might be very cautious with him because it seems very sensible."

Swann also underwent surgery to fix a persistent elbow problem earlier this year.
