Alastair Cook, Tim Bresnan, Glen Chapple, Alan Richardson and Kumar Sangakkara are named in Wisden's top five cricketers of the year.

England duo Alastair Cook and Tim Bresnan have been chosen among Wisden's five cricketers of the year for their contribution to Test and one-day cricket.

Cook, who has managed to adapt his game to one-day contests, racked up four international hundreds last summer, while Bresnan has a 100% success record in all 11 of the Test matches that he has competed in.

Along with the England pair, Glen Chapple, Alan Richardson and Kumar Sangakkara were named in the list.

County cricket star Glen Chapple was chosen following his leadership last season when the 37-year-old captained Lancashire to their first championship title in 77 years.

Sri Lanka wicket-keeper and batsman Kumar Sangakkara made his way onto the list after receiving widespread recognition for his first century on English soil at the Rose Bowl last summer.
