Paul Collingwood to continue playing for Durham

Paul Collingwood insists that he will continue to captain Durham in the County Championship this season.

Paul Collingwood has insisted that he will not be leaving his role as Durham captain to take an England coaching job on a full-time basis.

The all-rounder is currently working with the England side as an assistant to Ashley Giles, but he claims that an offer of a permanent role will not cause him to abandon his duties in the County Championship this season.

"I'm determined to play for Durham this summer," Collingwood told reporters.

"Durham are down to the bare bones in terms of personnel, so to lose a captain would be a bit harsh at the last second."

Collingwood could be in the frame for a coaching role when England's new head coach is named after the Twenty20 World Cup.
