Stuart Broad is ruled out of England's second Test match against Sri Lanka after suffering a calf injury.

England bowler Stuart Broad will play no part in the national side's second Test match against Sri Lanka due to a calf injury.

There were doubts over the fitness of the 25-year-old, who appeared to be struggling with his right calf towards the end of England's second innings against Sri Lanka yesterday that resulted in defeat for the visitors.

It is understood that England will not call for a replacement to come into the side, but rather enlist the services of Tim Bresnan or Steven Finn to take over Broad's duties.

While the fast-bowler is due to undergo more tests in the UK to learn the extent of the injury suffered in Galle, England will continue their tour of Sri Lanka with the second Test in Colombo on Tuesday.
