Ravi Bopara: 'Alastair Cook will put an end to poor form'

Ravi Bopara insists that Alastair Cook will rediscover his best form in one-day international cricket following a disappointing start to the series in Sri Lanka.

Ravi Bopara has backed England captain Alastair Cook to recapture his best form in one-day international cricket.

Cook's poor start with the bat in Sri Lanka has coincided with two defeats, but Bopara is confident that his Essex teammate will silence his critics sooner rather than later.

"He's a determined guy," the all-rounder, who recorded a half-century in each of the first two games, told reporters. "He always wants to do well.

"He's trying his best to do the country proud, the fans proud, himself, his teammates, his family. He's a good enough player to turn it around. He's a fighter.

"I've seen him do it before, and I'm pretty sure it'll come round very, very, very soon."

England will look to avoid falling 3-0 behind in the third ODI at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota on Wednesday.
