England's Ashes heroes allowed to play in T20 Blast quarter-finals

England allow their Ashes heroes to take part in this week's T20 Blast quarter-finals.

England's Ashes heroes, including captain Alastair Cook, have been given permission by head coach Trevor Bayliss to play in this week's NatWest T20 Blast quarter-finals.

Moeen Ali, Ian Bell, Jos Buttler and Cook have been made available to represent Worcestershire Rapids, Birmingham Bears, Lancashire Lightning and Essex Eagles respectively should they be chosen.

The quartet have been freed up by Bayliss after they helped England regain the Ashes with a fourth-Test win over Australia by an innings and 78 runs at Trent Bridge on Saturday.

With a spot in Finals Day up for grabs, Sussex Sharks will face Northants Steelbacks in the first quarter-final of the week on Wednesday, while Birmingham and Essex will go head to head the following day.

Worcestershire will go up against Hampshire on Friday, while Kent Spitfires and Lancashire will be pitted against one another on Saturday.

The final Ashes Test will get underway at the Oval on August 20.
