James Anderson: 'County form could be crucial to England success'

James Anderson believes that he must focus on his Lancashire form ahead of a busy summer with England.

James Anderson has claimed that his form in county cricket could be crucial ahead of a busy summer with the England team.

The seamer believes that it is important to achieve success with Lancashire before joining up with his international teammates as England look to recover from a disastrous winter tour of Australia.

"It hurts. We went over there with expectations high and failed to deliver," Anderson told Sky Sports News when asked about the 5-0 Ashes defeat.

"It's opened my eyes and I've come back to Lancashire and started the pre-season. I just want to work as hard as I can to get my form back to where it should be.

"My job now is to try and get as fit as possible and take my bowling to where I want it to be. I have a few games with Lancashire - maybe four or five Championship games with them. All I'm looking to do is take wickets."

England host Sri Lanka and India this summer.
