Alastair Cook has returned to captain England in their one-day international against Sri Lanka at Old Trafford this afternoon.

There had been doubts over the opening batsman's availability because of a groin strain that ruled him out of the 157-run defeat to the tourists three days ago.

However, he has been deemed fit enough to play and has replaced Michael Carberry at the top of the order.

The five-match series between the two nations is currently level at one win apiece.
