A knock of 167 from Ian Bell has helped England to dominate India on day two of the third Test at the Ageas Bowl.

The hosts declared on 569-7 before reducing the tourists to 25-1 at the close of play.

Starting the day on 247-2, England reached 358-3 at lunch as Gary Ballance's impressive spell at the crease came to an end with the batsman having made 156.

The home side lost two more wickets at tea when Joe Root (3) and Moeen Ali (12) were dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, but Bell powered his way to 133 to give his side a score of 452-5 heading into the evening session.

Bell was eventually sent back to the pavilion for 167, though England still had plenty of runs left in them thanks to 85 from Jos Buttler on his Test debut.

With Alastair Cook declaring on 569-7 after the wicket of Buttler fell, England got off to a blistering start with the ball as Shikhar Dhawan was bowled by James Anderson for six.

Murali Vijay (11 not out) and Cheteshwar Pujara (4 not out) will start at the crease for India on Tuesday.
