Rain halts Australia's progress at Old Trafford

Rain stops play at Old Trafford with just three balls bowled after lunch.

The rain came down with just three balls bowled after lunch on day five of the third Ashes Test between England and Australia.

The tourists set England a victory total of 332 runs this morning, as the rain stayed away for the session.

Australia took the key wickets of Alastair Cook, Jonathan Trott and Kevin Pietersen, but Peter Siddle bowled just three deliveries before the heavens opened.

The second of those almost removed Ian Bell, ballooning up off the number five's glove and over the slips.
