Moeen Ali: England in "pole position" heading into day three

England all-rounder Moeen Ali claims that his side "are ahead" following the second day of play in the first Ashes Test against Australia.

Moeen Ali has declared that England remain favourites to come out on top in the first Test of the Ashes series against Australia.

The tourists lost Adam Voges late on at the end of day two in Cardiff, leaving them 166 runs behind the Three Lions.

Sitting on 264-5 heading into the third day of the five-day affair, Ali believes that the pressure is now firmly on Australia to impress with the bat.

"I think we're ahead," he is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail. "That last wicket brought us into pole position a bit more. A couple of early wickets, with the new ball around the corner, and hopefully we can get these guys out a bit cheaper."

Friday morning's first session is scheduled to get underway at the SWALEC Stadium at 11am.
