Ashley Giles urges England to focus on themselves

Ashley Giles urges England to focus on their own preparations ahead of the Ashes series.

England bowling coach Ashley Giles has encouraged his players to focus only on themselves in the build-up to the Ashes and not Australia's troubled last few weeks.

The Australians have seen David Warner suspended for punching Joe Root and Darren Lehmann replace Mickey Arthur as coach.

However, despite that, Giles has said that England need to focus on their own preparations and not worry about what is happening in their opponents' camp.

"I know that sounds a bit dull but the guys have to focus on what they have got to do," Giles told Sky Sports News. "By no means will we be taking the Australian team lightly.

"They are always tough series. The important thing for the England team to focus on is being as well prepared as you can be and keeping guys healthy, fit and confident. That is the aim over the next few months.

"There are all sorts of variables, fitness being one of them. We need to keep our best side on the park and playing well and then we will be difficult to beat. That's what we have to focus on. If you take your eye off the ball we know with the Aussies they can make you pay."

The first Test starts at Trent Bridge on July 10.
