Nick Compton, Graham Onions reflect on Ashes omission

Nick Compton and Graham Onions express their disappointment at missing out on places in England's Ashes squad.

Both Nick Compton and Graham Onions have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to their respective exclusions from the England squad for this winter's Ashes in Australia.

Batsman Compton was dropped earlier this summer but was tipped to be included in the 17-man party, while many expected Durham bowler Onions to be named as back-up to seamers James Anderson and Stuart Broad.

However, the national selectors have decided to pick the likes of Michael Carberry and Boyd Rankin instead.

"Congrats to all selected for Ashes. Disappointed to miss out. Honoured to have been apart of a successful year for England cricket," tweeted Compton.

Onions added: "Disappointed is a understatement, absolutely gutted. I know I can be immensely proud of my efforts and what I've achieved this year, I pride myself on my county performances and will keep doing that."

England are due to arrive in Australia on Friday, October 25.
