England's Stuart Broad takes positives from bowling display

Stuart Broad believes that England's bowlers put in a "pretty good effort" to take six wickets from Australia on day one of the third Ashes Test in Perth.

England bowler Stuart Broad believes that taking six wickets on the first day of the third Ashes Test against Australia is a "good effort".

The tourists restricted the Aussies to 143-5 at one stage during the day, but a century from Steve Smith and impressive performances from Brad Haddin and Mitchell Johnson closed play with the hosts on 326-6.

After stumps, Broad wrote on Twitter: "Could have been better today but 6 wickets on a Day 1 Test pitch after losing yet another Toss is a pretty good effort."

Smith (103) and Johnson (39) will resume at the crease tomorrow in Perth.
