Geoffrey Boycott "very dejected" with England

Geoffrey Boycott says that he is disappointed with England's performance against Australia on day three of the fourth Ashes Test.

Geoffrey Boycott has said that he felt "very dejected" with England's performance against Australia on day three of the fourth Ashes Test match in Melbourne.

The tourists lost five wickets for six runs to be bowled out for 179 in their second innings, leaving the Aussies with a victory target of 231.

"This day promised a great deal for English cricket but finished really disappointingly," BBC Sport quotes the former England batsman as saying. "I feel very dejected after feeling this was England's best chance to win for a long time.

"I'd like to be in the dressing room telling them what I think. They think they're better than they are. They've won three series against ordinary Australian sides and they think they're world beaters.

"I hope they don't go home thinking everything will be all right when they get back to England because it damn well isn't."

Australia finished day three on 30-0 in their second innings and need 201 more runs to win the fourth successive Ashes Test.
