Australia have been set a target of 311 at lunch to win the opening Ashes Test against England at Trent Bridge.

The hosts started the day on 326-6 and went on to post a score of 375 before they were bowled out, while the Aussies made 28 without loss going into this afternoon's session.

Stuart Broad, starting on 47, quickly reached his 50 before Ian Bell added the two runs that he needed to become the first player of the series to hit a century.

Broad eventually made 65 before he was caught by Brad Haddin off the bowling of James Pattinson, while Bell notched up another nine runs when he fell to Mitchell Starc.

Peter Siddle took out Graeme Swann for nine soon after and England were all out as James Anderson was bowled for a duck by Siddle.

Shane Watson (18 not out) and Chris Rogers (10 not out) will start at the crease for Australia after the break.
