The hosts started the day with a huge lead of 566 runs before captain Alastair Cook declared with his side on 349-7.

Jonny Bairstow was the first to be dismissed during the morning session as he went for 20 when he was caught behind by Brad Haddin off the bowling of Ryan Harris.

Joe Root added two runs to his overnight score of 178 before he fell victim to Harris.
