James Anderson ruled out of fourth Ashes Test through injury

The ECB confirms that James Anderson will miss the remainder of England's third Ashes Test, as well as next week's fourth Test at Trent Bridge.

England fast bowler James Anderson has been ruled out of the remainder of the third Ashes Test due to a side strain.

The 33-year-old will also be unavailable for the fourth Test at Trent Bridge next week, while his involvement for the fifth and final Test of the series is also in doubt.

Anderson was forced off the field to receive medical treatment at Edgbaston on Thursday afternoon, with the ECB later revealing that an assessment would be given on Friday morning.

It has now been confirmed that Anderson will play no further part in the Three Lions' next two outings, but he may be back in time for the final clash in the series at The Oval.

England are strong favourites to take a 2-1 lead in the 2015 Ashes after restricting Australia to 168-7 in their second innings on day two.
