Dougie Brown: Brendon McCullum's innings was "brutal"

Birmingham Bears coach Dougie Brown admits that he was 'incredibly impressed' with Brendon McCullum's record-breaking 158 against Derbyshire on Friday night.

Birmingham Bears coach Dougie Brown has admitted that Brendon McCullum's innings of 158 from 64 balls against Derbyshire in the Natwest T20 Blast was "brutal".

The New Zealand skipper, making his home debut at Edgbaston, struck 13 fours and 11 sixes to help his new side to a 60-run triumph to set a new record for the T20 Blast in England, while also registering the second-highest score ever in a Twenty20 game.

The 45-year-old told Sky Sports News: "It was brutal. He's blown all of the records out of the water and it was a really impressive home debut.

"It's something that we knew that he could do, as he has shown with New Zealand and in the IPL, but to see it live was incredibly impressive."

Birmingham's victory, their seventh in nine games, took them to the top of the North Group.
