Bangladesh lose two quick wickets in reply to South Africa's first-innings 248

Bangladesh lose two quick wickets as they reach lunch on 80-2 against South Africa, who lead by 168 runs on day two of the first Test.

Bangladesh lost Imrul Kayes and Mominul Haque early in the morning session to reach lunch on 80-2 against South Africa on day two of the first Test in Chittagong.

The hosts were given the chance to grab a realistic lead when they bowled the Proteas out for 248 yesterday in their first innings and ended the day seven without loss.

This morning, Tamim Iqbal and Kayes returned to the crease and reached a further combined 30 runs before the latter was sent packing by Stiaan van Zyl.

Kayes (26) aimed to flick the ball, but he barely got a touch and as he began to run for one, Quinton de Kock was in place to whip the bails off the stumps.

Three overs later, Haque was bowled out by Simon Harmer after hitting six runs off 14 deliveries, but Iqbal and Mahmudullah were able to steady the innings and get to the interval unscathed.

Iqbal and Mahmudullah will return to the crease for the afternoon session unbeaten on 30 and 12 runs respectively.
