Mitchell Johnson leaves Australia's one-day international squad in India

Mitchell Johnson leaves Australia's one-day international squad in India to prepare for next month's Ashes series against England.

Australia fast bowler Mitchell Johnson has left the one-day international squad in India.

The 31-year-old has been granted permission to pull out of the tour in order to prepare for the return Ashes series against England.

"Mitch has performed very well in India, however, we believe it is best for his preparation to have him return home to increase his bowling loads in preparation for the Ashes Test window," said Cricket Australia's general manager of team performance Pat Howard.

The first Ashes Test between Australia and England gets underway next month in Brisbane.
