Phil Hughes tributes to be held before Test

Cricket Australia announces that tributes to late batsman Phil Hughes will be held before their first Test against India .

Cricket Australia has announced that there will be a number of tributes to late batsman Phil Hughes ahead of Australia's first Test against India next week.

Hughes's Test cap number, 408, will be painted on the pitch for the match, and a 63-second video tribute, marking his unbeaten score during his final innings, will be played before the start of play.

The organisation's chief executive James Sutherland said: "It has been an incredibly sad time since Phillip's passing.

"With the international season re-commencing on Tuesday, it is appropriate to pause once more and honour a modest hero who thrilled the nation and in so doing won an enduring place in our hearts.

"We hope that the whole cricket community can come together to join the Australian and Indian teams in the pre-match tribute."

Hughes died last month at the age of 25 after being struck on the neck by a bouncer during a Sheffield Shield match.
